First, let's dive into the simple framework of Microsoft Dynamics for an easy transition or flow.
What Is Microsoft Dynamics, and Which Versions Are Supported?
Dynamics 365 is a multi-solution platform created by Microsoft. It incorporates both the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications.
See all the Dynamics 365 integrations here.
Now, let us dig into the authentication features of each version:
Dynamics 365
- Dynamics 365 (Multi-Factor Authentication)
- On-Premise with Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) enabled. Authentication uses Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), including ADFS chaining.
Currently, SyncApps supports Dynamics 365 MFA and ADFS authentication.
Do You Need To Find Out Your Web Services URL?
You can easily find out your web services URL by trying our feature that is featured in Step 1 of your integration or Set Up setup.
In case you have any trouble or your system does not use the above configuration, contact our support team with authentication type and test credentials for connection testing.
We’re always happy to help!

Dynamics 365 and On-Premise Configuration
It includes the following authentication types outlined below:
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
You will simply need to log in with your credentials for Dynamics 365 and authenticate, then you will be redirected back to Step 1 to continue your integration Set Up.
- This is the default authentication method in SyncApps
- Please use the Dynamics CRM URL instead of your Organizational URL.
A few Dynamics 365 setup items are needed for MFA as explained below by Microsoft:
Prerequisites
To configure user consent, you need:
- A user account. If you don't already have one, you can create an account for free.
- A Global Administrator or Privileged Administrator role.
Configure user consent settings
To configure user consent settings through the Azure portal, do the following:
-
Sign in to the Azure portal as a Global Administrator.
-
Select Azure Active Directory > Enterprise applications > Consent and permissions > User consent settings.
-
Under User consent for applications, select which consent setting you want to configure for all users.
-
Select Save to save your settings.
Note:
If you use Power Apps please select this feature in Step 1 after your preferred authentication method and input your Contact, Lead, or Account custom table name.
Claims-Based Authentication (Active Directory Federation Services - ADFS)
You will need to specify 2 URLs:
- Web Service URL
- Security Token Service (STS) URL
EXAMPLE:
I have Dynamics 8.2 on-prem with an ADFS server. I think I need claims-based authentication for this, right?
Yes, you will need to use the below configuration for Claims-Based Authentication:
- Authentication Type: Claims-Based Authentication - Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
- Web Service URL: https://company.company.com/XrmServices/2011/Organization.svc
- STS WSDL URL: https://fs.company.com/adfs/services/trust/mex
