Why does the NetSuite integration assign email addresses for Customer IDs in new Contacts or Leads?

In many NetSuite integrations, the ability to sync the name and other information across to NetSuite from your marketing automation solution is good enough to allow a complete 360-degree view of the customer, prospect, or lead.

However, you've set up your integration and now wondering why new records from Mailchimp are being synced to NetSuite's Entity ID as an email address.

There's an explanation for this, which can be walked back easily by doing a few simple changes to your Step 1 Set Up in SyncApps.

When you select the"Use Email Address as Entity ID (Name) for new Contact or Customer" option in Step 1 of the Set Up, SyncApps will by default use First Name and Last Name for Contact Name and Company Name as Customer Name.

If this option is checked SyncApps will use the email address listed on record instead.

You may be wondering what this feature accomplishes for the average integration out there.

Let's take the example of NetSuite integrated with Infusionsoft.

How the integration works are like this: NetSuite will reject new records from Infusionsoft that don't have a First or Last Name. When you select the feature above, SyncApps will use the email address as First or Last Name, or in this case the Customer ID, instead of creating the new record.

If you do not want this to happen, please disable the feature. With the feature disabled, however, you will have to manually input the First and Last name of that new record in Infusionsoft before you integrate to avoid errors when creating NetSuite records.
