Terminology

Let's tackle some nomenclature you might be reading while you are integrating your software using SyncApps. Nomenclature!  What! Yes, exactly, for example, “subscribers” or "People" is preferred to the original nomenclature “users” to make it more personal when trialing a software.

We’ve put together some key software terminology that can help you out as you integrate your software using SyncApps.

Below are some keywords and their meanings that SyncApps uses for you to understand better how things work.

SyncApps General Terminologies

(Applies to all)

  • API - An Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of subroutine definitions, communication protocols, and tools for building software. In general terms, it is a set of clearly defined methods of communication between software. An API may be for a web-based system (which is what we use), operating system, database system, computer hardware, or software library.

 

  • Master List - A Master List is a separate combined list of datum (Contacts/Leads/Accounts) in your Marketing Automation account from your CRM account. If you have selected multiple Campaigns to be synced from CRM to Marketing Automation, all datum/records of your Campaigns will be synced here.

 

  • Sync Profile - refers to the setup of 2 available software where data from one application is synced to another application. Essentially, we call it an integration.

 

  • Sync / Integrate - is the main product of SyncApps. It is what SyncApps does with your applications.

 

  • Security Token - is required depending on the application you have.

 

  • One-Way Sync - Before today our subscribers used a workaround like selecting a single Campaign or Marketing List with 1 email address in it yet now with one click can sync one way from Salesforce to their Marketing Automation solution.

 

  • Plug-in - software that adds features to give additional functionality.

 

  • Integration - synchronization of business information, two software, through technology.

 

  • Software - collections of data or instructions.

 

  • Filter and Segmentation - is our most powerful tool where you can sync records from CRM based on your criteria and vice-versa from your other software.

 

  • Sync Scheduling -  is the best part of setting up a Sync Profile. You can set it and forget it and let SyncApps do the syncing for you based on the schedule you have set in this Step.

 

  • Cloud-Based - it is an internet based applications so you can freely access it anywhere. is a term that refers to applications, services or resources made available to users on demand via the Internet from a cloud computing provider's servers.

 

  • Reset Sync Process - it is a process where if you want to re-synced your data, at any time and during the next sync process, all your data between your software application will sync. Once you have updated any configuration in your Sync Profile, it is a must to do this so that the new changes will also be applied in the next sync.

 

  • Timezone - one of the most important settings on your SyncApps Profile, so you can sure that your emails will be delivered on time.

 

  • Subscribers - people/organization who pays for a product or services. (Client)

 

  • Object Type - is either Contact, Lead or Account. With SyncApps, you are required to choose one each Sync Profile. Only one Object Type will be used per Sync Profile.

 

  • Campaign Response - is a way of recording the responses from your prospects or clients in an Email Marketing Campaign. This records the opens, clicks, links clicked and bounces.

 

  • Free Plan - Free Plan is for Constant Contact subscribers ( Soon in Mailchimp), Unlimited numbers of records, sync scheduling (Daily Interval) and 24/7 Support and email. Other features can be purchased as Add-Ons.

 

  • Basic Plan - This plan will get your business started with our easy point and press integration to save time integrating. With 44 integrations available, Unlimited numbers of records, sync scheduling (Daily Interval) and 24/7 Support and email.

 

  • Professional Plan - Everything for a thriving business needing unlimited data integration between their disparate systems. With 140+ integrations available, Unlimited numbers of records, sync on demand, sync scheduling (6, 12, or 24 hours) and 24/7 Support and email.

 

  • Enterprise Plan - This plan has every feature of our Pro Plan with added real-time integration feature in scheduling. All integrations available, unlimited numbers of record, unlimited account users, sync on demand, flexible sync scheduling (min, hour, day), 24/7 support and email, 100+ unique customizations, custom services, scheduled phone support.

 

  • On-premise software - (abbreviated as "on-prem" or incorrectly said as "on-premise") is installed and runs on computers on the premises of the person or organization using the software, rather than at a remote facility such as a server farm or cloud.

 

  • Integration platform as a service (iPaaS) - is a set of automated tools for connecting software applications that are deployed in different environments. iPaaS is often used by large business-to-business (B2B) enterprises that need to integrate on-premises applications and data with cloud applications and data.

 

  • Team Member(s) - Members who can access, edit and run the sync.

 

  • Team Lead - The only member who can control the SyncApps account, he can add new Team Member(s), update subscription and billing.

 

  • Full Sync - enabled to let the subscriber sync your huge CRM database that was split into 3 Sync Profiles and it is not suitable for this use case cleanup process.

 

  • Security Token Service (STS) URL - issues security tokens.

 

  • Database - is an organized collection of data, generally stored and accessed electronically from a computer system.

 

  • Segmentation strategy - is very useful if wanting to track your customers who ordered specific products from your store, further divides your target market into subgroups that are easier to manage.

 

  • Clicked -  a Marketing Metric used if the recipient clicked

 

  • Opened - a Marketing Metric used if the recipient opened

 

  • Bounced - a Marketing Metric used if Email Bounced

 

  • Unsubscribed - opted out an email Campaign

 

  • Sent -a Marketing Metric used if the recipient is a member of the Email Marketing Campaign and none of the above statuses applied.

 

  • Integration - synchronization of business information through technology.

 

  • Add-Ons - these are paid features that are applicable mostly in FREE Plan and others are optional for paid plans.

 

  • Field Mapping - You can map fields in one or both directions. Standard fields such as email and name as well as others are pre-mapped which will always give you in the SyncNotes area.

 

  • Opt-outs - an unsubscribed data or contacts that are already excluded from the sync. The term opt-out refers to several methods by which individuals can avoid receiving unsolicited product or service information. This ability is usually associated with direct marketing campaigns such as e-mail marketing, or direct mail.

 

  • Contact - a type of object type, lists of people with corresponding contact information.

 

  • Lead - a type of object type. This is people who are interested in what you are selling providing with their contact information.

 

  • Hard Bounce - (cleaned) status it can be synced back to a CRM custom field (checkbox type), so you can see if a contact is in hard bounce status.

 

  • Soft Bounce - temporary errors that interrupt the sync process.

 

  • Sync Reports /Sync Logs  - is where you can find your Sync Profile's syncing details.

 

  • SyncNotes - is information callouts on how a specific configuration works, what's with it, or how to do something with it. Just simply hovering over to SyncNotes tooltip, the information will then pop out on the right-hand side of your screen.

 

  • oAuth - Open Authorization, it is an open authentication that internet granting access services or applications.

 

  • One-Way Sync - Before today our subscribers used a workaround like selecting a single Campaign or Marketing List with 1 email address in it yet now with one click can sync one way from Salesforce to their Marketing Automation solution.

 

  • Two-Way Sync - syncs records from software 1 and software 2 will sync bidirectionally based on your Sync Profile Configuration. All integrations on SyncApps platform are bidirectional data integration.

 

  • Real-Time Syncing - SyncApps features that processed or synced your data within the specified time constraints.

 

  • Point and Press - one of SyncApps feature that gives a great help in every subscriber to do their syncing environment easy and reliable.

 

  • Checkbox - SyncApps Add-Ons that are applicable to selected CRM only.

 

  • Timezone - one of the most important settings on your SyncApps Profile, so you can sure that your emails will be delivered on time.

 

  • Security Token Service (STS) URL - issues security tokens.

 

  • Consumer secret - is the client password that is used to authenticate with the authentication server, which is a Twitter/Facebook/etc. the server that authenticates the client. The access token is what is issued to the client once the client successfully authenticates itself (using the consumer key & secret).

 

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS), and its now-deprecated predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols designed to provide communications security over a computer network. SyncApps is fully supported by TLS 1.2.

 

  • Dataloader.io is a web-based application so there's no need to download anything and works on all major browsers. With Dataloader.io free you get: + Import, export and delete from Salesforce up to 10,000 records per month.

 

  • HTML - Hypertext Markup Language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphics, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages.

 

  • GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union and the European Economic Area.

 

  • Database - is an organized collection of data, generally stored and accessed electronically from a computer system.

 

  • Drag and Drop - is a pointing device gesture in which the user selects a virtual object by "grabbing" it and dragging it to a different location or onto another virtual object.

 

  • API calls  - represent specific operations that your client applications can invoke at runtime to perform tasks, for example, Query data in your organization. Add, update, and delete data.

 

  • Firewall Whitelist - contains people, sites or networks you allow access to your computer or you want your computer to access.

 

  • Trusted IP’s -  is the IP address of a computer within the corporate network that any client can access from the outside.

 

  • On-premises software - is installed and runs on computers on the premises of the person or organization using the software, rather than at a remote facility such as a server farm or cloud.

 

  • Data Breach - a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed.  

 

  • Encryption - the process of converting information or data into code, especially to prevent unauthorized access.

 

 

CRM

 

  • CRM - Customer Relationship Management is a strategy for managing an organization's relationships and interactions with customers and potential customers. CRM has higher precedence in SyncApps over other applications as the system of record.

 

  • CRM Campaign(s)  - A group of specific Contact/Leads/Accounts in your CRM software that is placed in a 1 List.

 

  • Tearsheet - only available for Bullhorn, creates group candidates, contacts, or jobs based on any criteria you define and save them for later reference. With candidate tearsheets, you can create mass mailing for advertisements.

 

  • List View - is a grouping of records based on a defined set of criteria. List Views are beneficial for displaying customer specific data according to your business requirements.  

 

  • Candidate - an Object type is available on Bullhorn CRM only.

 

  • Custom Records - SyncApps auto-create custom records in our NetSuite SyncApps for email marketing metrics, including our newest one doing call metrics with Mailchimp here.

 

  • CRM Tags - are unique identifiers that can be associated to your CRM records to search, sort, categorize, filter, and segment records in a more efficient way.

 

  • CRM Notes - is a text field creates timestamps.

 

  • Web Forms - simplify the process of users information from the website to your CRM system.

 

  • SuiteCRM - or your SugarCRM is hosted on Sugar On-Demand,  it is a free and open source customer relationship management (CRM) software tool.

 

  • Zoho CRM Potentials - or also known as Deals refer to the number of sales opportunities or deals made from your CRM Contacts. These are considered the sales windows that you need to keep an eye for. In any sales organization, Potentials are the most important records to generate real revenue for your business.

 

  • Formula fields - in your CRM can be used to source a value from one object to another. While Pardot can sync with formula fields, a change to a formula field will not trigger a sync.

 

  • Federated Authentication -  is related to single sign-on (SSO), in which a user's single authentication ticket, or token, is trusted across multiple IT systems or even organizations. SyncApps supports Federated Authentication for Dynamics CRM Online.

 

  • Claim-Based Authentication -  identity mechanism can be used to build the authentication and authorization process in the application.

 

  • Web Service URL - A URL reservation will be created based on the URL you specify. The URL reservation defines the syntax and rules for all URLs that can be subsequently used to access the Report Server Web service. It specifies the prefix, host, port, and virtual directory for the Report Server Web service.

 

  • Token-based authentication (TBA) allows you to generate secure, revocable, non-expiring tokens for integration clients such as the NetSuite Connector to use when connecting to NetSuite.

 

  • Saved Search - is a parameter of searches that records into a group and a set of criteria that meet the requirements. Saved Searches helps you locate the plan you’ve made that weren’t attained before for your future reference.

  • List View - is a grouping of records based on a defined set of criteria. List Views are beneficial for displaying customer specific data according to your business requirements.

 

  • Custom Modules - let you organize and keep track of various aspects that help run your business.

 

  • CRM Tags - are unique identifiers that can be associated to your CRM records to search, sort, categorize, filter, and segment records in a more efficient way.

  • Target lists - are used by Sugar's Campaigns module as collections of individuals or organizations you want to include or exclude in a campaign. Each campaign relates to several target lists, and each target list relates to any number and combination of targets, contacts, leads, users, and accounts.

 

  • Checkbox Field Mapping - feature lets you sync any CRM Checkbox Fields on your Lead or Contact records to your Marketing Automation List/Group/Segment, available for Salesforce, Dynamic 365, Zoho CRM.

 

  • Marketing Lists -can be used to sync your Accounts (Person Accounts), Contacts, Leads and Campaign Members to Act-On Software, Constant Contact, Delivra, ExactTarget, Mailchimp & VerticalResponse using Cazoomi.

 

  • Microsoft Dynamics - It is basically a branding platform used by the Microsoft Company. It incorporates both the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications. The aim is to create a medium for specialized services.

 

  • Microsoft Flow -  is cloud-based software that allows employees to create and automate workflows and tasks across multiple applications and services without help from developers.

 

  • NetSuite's Global Subscription Status - field on contact records determines whether or not a contact can receive an email sent through NetSuite campaigns and email merge operations. It can either be Soft-Opt in or Confirmed Opt-in when performing and integration using SyncApps for NetSuite to other systems.

 

 

Email Marketing

 

  • Email Marketing -  is the act of sending a commercial message, typically to a group of people, using email.

 

  • Email List - An Email List is a separate list of datum (contacts/leads/accounts) in your Marketing Automation account from your CRM account. This is where your campaigns made in your CRM account will be synced accordingly into your Marketing Automation account.

 

  • Campaign Response - is a way of recording the responses from your prospects or clients in an email marketing campaign. This records the opens, clicks, links clicked and bounces.

 

  • Marketing Automation (ESP Email Service Provider) - it's software who provides services for Email Marketing or mailing bulk emails. Most of SyncApps supported software   Email Marketing.

 

  • Autoresponder - created by your email marketing, it is a series of personalized automated email you create once to send themselves.

 

  • Formula fields - in your CRM can be used to source a value from one object to another. While Pardot can sync with formula fields, a change to a formula field will not trigger a sync.

 

  • Email Marketing Tags -allow you to store additional information about your contacts so you can send to an even more targeted group when the time is right.

 

  • Static Segments -  is a type of saved segment that includes only the subscribed contacts who shared specific common qualities when created. (called Tags now in Mailchimp)

 

  • Marketing List Package Version 1.38 - To solve storage usage issues without having to recreate your Marketing Lists in Salesforce, the best practice is to delete the unneeded records using Salesforce data loader so you do not need to uninstall the package.

 

  • Event Marketing (EventSpot) - CRM created a campaign on syncing email marketing events and SyncApps automatically create “Email Events” fields.

 

  • Webhooks - allow you to collect information about events as they happen in near real-time. Once you provide a URL and select the type of information that you want to receive, we’ll send that data to you as the events take place. When you have a SyncApps integration with Email Marketing, then Webhooks will take effect even if you do not run a sync.

 

  • Mailchimp Tags - also known as Static Segment, this feature has now become better when it comes to organizing your audience.

 

  • Mailchimp Static Segments - is a type of saved segment that includes only the subscribed contacts who shared specific common qualities when created. (Called Tags now in Mailchimp).

 

  • Marketing Lists - can be used to sync your Accounts (Person Accounts), Contacts, Leads and Campaign Members to Act-On Software, Constant Contact, Delivra, ExactTarget, Mailchimp & VerticalResponse using Cazoomi.

 

 

Financials

 

  • Custom Roles  - are unique access configurations. Each role contains its own set of permissions for viewing or editing data. These permissions also dictate which pages the user can see within the NetSuite interface, and which tasks can be completed. Each role is associated with a single center within NetSuite.

 

  • SuiteTalk -is a Web Services integration tool that allows NetSuite to be integrated with legacy systems and third-party applications. SyncApps then uses SuiteTalk (SOAP Web Services) to connect to NetSuite API.

 

  • SuiteCloud - is a comprehensive offering of cloud development tools, applications, and infrastructure that enables customers and software developers to maximize the benefits of cloud computing. SuiteCloud Developer Tools are built to allow both business analysts and technical developers to interact with NetSuite.

 

  • Custom Records - SyncApps auto-create custom records in our NetSuite SyncApps for email marketing metrics, including our newest one doing call metrics with Mailchimp here.

 

  • NetSuite sandbox - is an isolated test account in which you can develop and test customizations without worrying about affecting your production account. You can have one or more sandboxes provisioned for each production account. Each sandbox account has the same configuration, data, and customization as your production account.

 

  • NetSuite Sandbox 2.0 - is an enhanced Sandbox account which provides better performance and accessibility using the Production Login URL.  This feature also affords the ability for administrators to change the Account ID to distinguish Sandbox from Production Roles.

 

  • Netsuite Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery) - defines a multicast discovery protocol to locate services. To scale to a large number of endpoints, the protocol defines the multicast suppression behavior if a discovery proxy is available on the network.

 

  • Standard Customer Form - SyncApps uses standard form only for updating Handshake external id field so the Standard Form should not be disabled.

 

  • Saved Search - is a request for information. By specifying criteria and results from information in NetSuite you will be able to search through hundreds, thousands or millions of records in NetSuite to pinpoint exactly what you need.

 

  • Smart Lists - let you create targeted lists from the information you've saved in Xero about your customers. Use contact information, transaction history or payment status to chase unpaid invoices, identify who has bought a product from you, create sales campaigns and more.

 

 

eCommerce

 

  • eCommerce -  is the activity of buying or selling of products on online services or over the Internet.

 

  • Abandoned Cart  - e-commerce term for a user visiting a page and living it without completing the process.

 

  • B2B - Business-to-business is a situation where one business makes a commercial transaction with another.

 

  • CPQ (Configure Price Quote) -software is a term used in the business-to-business industry to describe software systems that help sellers quote complex and configurable products.

 

 

Support

 

  • Tickets - used to asked support or assistance. Used by Zendesk for NetSuite integration.

 

  • RMA - (Return Merchandise Authorization) feature for Zendesk. How it Works: The RMA feature for our Zendesk App for NetSuite can be utilized after your Sync Profile is created because the RMA feature needs to connect to NetSuite using credentials defined in your Sync Profile from within Zendesk.
